A light in the darkness
Candles. We light them in remembrance of loved ones. In prayer, we bring the warmth of the flame to our faces. In its light, we are reminded of miracles, that a tiny bit of oil can burn for eight long days. The glow of Advent reminds us of peace, love, joy, and hope.
If you are able, light a candle as you write in your journal today. As you watch the flame flicker, you can be reminded that even in the darkest of times, there is still light to be found. The ritual of lighting a candle can bring a sense of peace and serenity as you take a moment to reflect on what matters most to you.
Whether you light a candle as part of your spiritual practice or simply to create a calming atmosphere in your home, its gentle glow can be a powerful symbol of hope and renewal.
Let today’s candle remind you that there is light in the darkness. It may be only a tiny light, a glimmer. Glimmers come in the form of a friend, in the quiet moments of meditation, in a bird’s song, a glorious epiphany, the sizzle of snow, the love of a pet, or the beauty of art.
